Josh had been asking for it and he did so great. I dropped this poor kid off late on his first day and he had never even worn a pair of skis, but because of his age he was with kids who were on their 2nd or 3rd season of ski lessons. He learned so fast. By the end of his 3rd lesson he was taking the chairlifts.
William wasn’t so enthusiastic but he also did really well and had fun, eventually.
I myself had the time of my life watching them learn with the other kids. Seriously if I wanted to win the grand prize of America’s Funniest Home Video I’d know just where to get the footage.
William’s ski instructor was so chill. He had a group of 3 or 4 beginners (3-4 y.o.) and he was perfect for it. Everytime a kid fell or started drifting off the track I’d hear: "Hey Champion, What was that?" and he just put them back on their feet or pushed them back to the mats just to realize another kid was "drifting" again, on and on for hours. Eventually they all learned to do "chapeau pointu" (the pointy hat) with their skis and to take the drag lifts and they all loved him (William brought him candy once or twice and asked me to invite him over to our house, lol).
My favorite moments were the pile-ups at the drag lifts, or when William decided to help everyone take off their skis (even the ones that were still skiing), and the kids trying to attach their skis when they arrived.
Josh’s group wasn’t as entertaining to observe. Although there were some good moments too (my favorite was watching Josh try to attach his skis or when his instructor told him to crouch and put his hands on his knees to move his weight forward and he went down the whole slope in that position, never dared move his hands off his knees for like 10min!).
Here’s a 5min video of their first week:
